Has anyone looked at the source code for TCPMP as a viable means of Playback of
media?

technically it might work, but it will be much too slow to display any video since there will be no hardware accelleration at all.

Possibly but it runs exceptionally well on an old iPaq with 8mb and a 233 processor.
