Title: modchip and different X300t versions
Post by: jberces on 23. Oct 2008, 22:35
Does the modchip work for all X300t? Or only for those ones that have "JTAG works" YES at http://www.t-hack.com/wiki/index.php/Hardware-versions ?

Thanks,
Jozsef

the modchip works for all... it depends more on the bootloader version.
those boxes with "NO" JTAG are just a bit more difficult to use, because you need to connect a wire directly on the CPU as shown in the WIKI
http://www.t-hack.com/wiki/index.php/EJTAG_on_SMP

this is not an easy task... but it is possible.

Has anyone managed to connect to the chip? Could you please post pictures of the work?

Thanks for the grate picture.

Is it enough to connect only the JTAG enable directly on the SMP and the rest is connected to the PCB?

What kind of glue did you use?

Yes, I connected everything else to the PCB. The glue ist just some hot glue i had laying around, I used conductive silver to connect the small wire to the CPU because soldering.. well, let's just say you'll burn the chip, oxidize the tiny copper wire, and instead of a electrical connection there will be just a lot of frustration. But then again, it might work with a temperature controlled soldering station and low temp solder...
