Title: Alternatives for an old x300t
Post by: vambiro on 23. Mar 2009, 12:21
Hello everyone,

First of all: Good work guys!

I have an old x300t (maybe two years old) from a IPTV service in Spain that was shutdown (no more tv service anymore). When I power on the device cames with an error about a missing cert. I think this is due that the service server is not online anymore.

What alternatives do I have with this machine? Can I use it for streaming video or to anything interesting? Does the missing service server incapacitates the machine to operate? Doing the patching in nk.bin and the modchip will give me the opportunity to bypass this limitation and run programs on it? Would be better to install linux and use it for another use?

Thanks a lot in advance.

in a limited way this is possible with the firmware as it is right now.

yes it does. but even if it was still there, usually it does not work if you dont have a paid subscription.

yes, either run new programs or modify the existing.

well if you dont want to have any audio or video output then you can also use Linux.

It's a good topic to join in. I have a Swisscom Bluewin TV-Box, and I'm trying to do with it something else than IPTV, because I don't have access to the service.
I.e. like vambiro said: streaming video, or playing h.264/xvid videos from usb stick, and recording video from external sources.
I'm wondering if something from this is available to do on that set-up box.

In order to convert the old x300T (also known as the KMM3000 for some countries) into a media center is that simple as patching the dlls that prevent to run not signed code and develop an media center application?

Why not porting an existing media center project?

Am i missing something in here?

best whishes,

yes you are missing the big problem which is using the SMP863x. The SDK for the CPU is non public and even if it were public... it is a real pain to use.

modifying the existing application (which already uses the SMP) seems to be a simpler way to get results.
