Yeah, it does look the way you describe, I read it that way too at first, guess I'm overly optimistic. What prompted me was the offer of a box without sub, why would that even be mentioned if it was not going to work? I find it hard to believe that BT would even offer a box that won't work. In any case I'll see what happens after the end of May.

Just happened to notice that BT have removed the 30 GBPound connection fee as of 30 May
http://www.beta.bt.com/bta/forums/ann.jspa?annID=169Will this now mean that the Vision Boxes will work also without BT Broadband? It would be interesting if anyone has BT Broadband but no Vision account to get connected after 30May and see what service they receive. I'll see if I can get connected too although I'm not on BT. I guess the connection is somehow verified against the Broadband Account Name so it may still only work for BT users, but a step in the right direction from BT and maybe other telcos will follow.

Wow, it's beyond my soldering abilities for sure! Thanks to andi for locating the link. I'll see if any of the tracks on the board look interesting but my guess is that for the majority of people we'll need to wait for a software solution.

Out of curiosity I tried a copy of the T-Online Pkg on my BT Vision box today. I was expecting to get the NR01 error, but the box hang. No real surprise that it didn't boot, but did my box consider the file signatures intact I wonder?
Since I have no idea how to sign the files or create the .sig files I'm at a dead end so far.

hi Mick,
Yeah, I saw that, but it's just the pin-outs, which is for sure a good start. I thought there might be a special way of doing it, drilling holes perhaps. Also still the question of how to apply the 3,3v what resistors were used etc.

I read some posts from margadon that it is possible to JTAG direct to the chip, but could not find any details about how it was done. Any chance that we can get some info compiled on how-to? It seems clear that we'll need to JTAG to make any wider use of the boxes. From what I've read the same problem of missing JTag Headers exists on the X300 as the BT Vision box. I'lll be happy to pull any info together, and if it looks good, maybe even try my own box....
Thanks

http to port 8080 gives a blank screen, so does tying it as a local proxy. telnet gives some kind of key echo but with blank charachters.

Update to the above post re the port scan:
Running: AT&T Windows PocketPC/CE, Motorola Windows PocketPC/CE, Swisscom embedded, T-Home embedded
OS details: AT&T U-Verse or Motorola VIP1200-series digital set top box (Windows CE 5.0), Swisscom BlueWin TV set top box, T-Home X 300T or X301T Media Receiver set top box

Tried the new package on my unchipped box, some interesting results although I still get the c03 error.
Slightly different diagnostics page at the c03 error:
Boot Rom version 1.1527 - presumably same as before
Client Version 1.6.25044.803 (release)
No opportunity anymore to 'specify server address' - anyone know what that was for?
Slightly more interesting was the portscan.
Now shows port 8080 tcp open, described as 'http-proxy' by the port scanner
And most interesting of all
The Port Scanner now shows the operating system as
T-Home X 300T or X301T media receiver set top box!!!
Port scan was done using zenmap.

Any luck in getting the new version to boot?

Thanks for the reply Mick.
So, all of the files are signed, even the .xml files in the content directory? Reason for asking is that I thought maybe there's some command line switches that can be tweaked. No way to spoof the signature?
Sorry if this is obvious but I'm new to this.
I also tried a port scan, seems the only open port is 1027 (UDP)

Hi, I read elsewhere that some of the 7421 boards don't have a JTAG header, and the box I've bought is one of them! Surely there must be a way to enable just the DVB & PVR functions without a hardware mod, perhaps via some command line switches?
I looked throught the threads on software , plus the wiki and have tried patching the nk.bin using both the nkpatcher & nkbinpatcher, both produce an updated nk.bin but also, both give a different error message.
I also tried the following:
replaced nk.bin with both patchers
used the updated content files
used the BT diag files
altered command line switches
tried to put booterce into nk.bin using binmod, but got 'image not found'
I always seem to get a NR01 error message followed by a progress bar and what must be a reload of the base files from the BT server.
I think there must be a new version of nk.bin in use for both of the patchers to fail and binmod to fail.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
