;) Thanks Herman, Do you have a circuit for inserting them next to the 'atmeg8' chip as I am about to insert everything into the veroboard.  :)

??? ??? ??? So data transfer then !  I could spend another 5 hrs finding out what all the other abreviations mean.  they use it to flash the program in then, thanks for that.

;)Hi lads, I have a atmega8 chip now ( RS - DIL ) so I am just going down the route of chopping some veroboard up and soldering the chip sockets in place etc, whats the 'JTAG' connector normally used for ? does it normally have a chip soldered in place ? or is it just a connection point. sparky

;) you would also have to be fairly good at soldering as the point for the reset wire is a very small pad ! not done it yet myself as I am waiting for a chip ( RS )

;) First of all must go out and buy a atmega 8 chip, is it the standard DIL version and does it have any prefixes on the end as there are various types ? is  '16pu' OK.
Ps the box is a DIT 9719/05 if that helps ? do differant models require differant software ?

Hi all, I bought a bt vision box yesterday at a car boot sale and then powered it up at home and it had a NL01 ? fault code and a message to contact BT, I have just printed the wiki so have not read it fully yet, where do you get the ATMEGA8 chip from ? I presume its an EEPROM and if so how do you program it ?  :-[
