Digging around

I did some digging around and came across some other sites hacking boxes running windows CE (i guess its Mediaroom) these use the TV2Client at any rate, but alas an x86 processor.

i don't know if any of these are helpful but i thought id post them anyway.

Actually it looks like they've re-written the set top box software for the thompson box:

Has anyone managed to dump the registry or edit the registry of the MIPSII Boxes?

that is the previous generation of MS IPTV settop boxes. most of them are indeed intel pc based.
however the security of that generation is nowhere near the SMP863x based boxes, thats why these boxes are phased out.

but the software is similar... just older and does not have all the new features, and some things are completely different .. mainly the user interface.
