Finished the modchip with leds  :) (thanks for all your help & support) , I have not patched any files on the HDD as of yet (want to know if the modchip works 1st, which it doesnt).

The 3.3v line which is near "A" on the pcb doesnt appear to be on my board can someone please clarify the location. Currently it is soldered above to a diff point (my mistake) at the moment the box turns on says "please wait" then turns off HDD sounds like it is still running, greenlight flashes. Checked the voltage to the modchip and nothing, to the psu it appears to be on a 3.3v line but is diff not correct to that of micks.

Model no of the box is from the packaging DIT9719/05 (is this correct or is it located else where  :-\)

is0-mick

Model number is correct.

The 3.3v point I used is the track just below the top of the letter A (going towards the front of the box).
I just scraped at it a little with a small flat screwdriver and soldered directly to the track as its quite wide.

I used the 3.3v point to the right of the jtag port. if you look at the traces, they lead to a 4 way resistor pack and iirc the top 2 or 3 points are 3.3v I used the other side to the jtag port.

           10k Resistor pack
Jtag            0  0 3.3v
0 0 0 0 0     0  0  3.3v
0 0 0 0 0     0  0
                 0  0
